Okay.. now it's eels.

Well, was reading one of my Psyc modules and this little example popped out to me:

The *eel was on the shoe.
The *eel was on the axle.
The *eel was on the orange.

Now... perhaps I'm just a literal freak (ask my mom, she'll say that's definitely what I am)... but I saw that that was one busy little eel! lol!

What did you see? A busy eel, or the actual puzzle? Apparently this is an example of how our brains fill in what is missing with what makes the most sense (see previous post about ants). If this is the case, then it's obvious what was actually on those things.... but I still say that was one busy eel!

Ants? Where??

Okay.. so I told my mom I was going to preserve this in my blog, and so I shall.

Backstory: My mom's phone has crappy reception. The building she lives in somehow interferes with it, and it's often hard for me to hear her. I typically have to "fill in" what I don't quite hear, so I can avoid asking her to repeat herself all the time (my Psyc prof would have a field day with explaning how and why it is that I can do that...).

Anyway, I was on the phone with her and I knew that what I had heard was completely wrong. While she continued talking, I tried to figure out what she had actually said, but I was a little hyper and muchly in a good mood, and couldn't help but start giggling at her. She was quite confused, so I explained that I heard her say:

"There are plenty of ants in the restaurant."

After a bit of confusion, then laughing, she cleared it up for me: "There are plenty of benches to rest on."

Right... I like the ants in the restaurant better!

Falling....

Falling Is Like This
   - Ani DiFranco

You give me that look that's like
laughing with liquid in your mouth
like you're choosing between choking
and spitting it all out

Like you're trying to fight gravity
on a planet that insists
that love is like falling
and falling is like this

It feels like reckless driving when we're talking
It's fun while it lasts and it's faster than walking
But no one's going to sympathize when we crash
They'll say, 'You hit what you head for, you get what you ask.'

And we'll say we didn't know
no, we didn't even try
One minute there was road beneath us
and the next just sky

I'm sorry I can't help you
I cannot keep you safe
I'm sorry I can't help myself
so don't look at me that way

We, we can't fight gravity
on a planet that insists
that love is like falling
and falling is like

Love is like falling
and falling is like
Love is like falling
and falling is like this

Happy Birthday Kris!

~* Happy 20th Birthday Kris!! *~

This day was good for more reasons than Kris' birthday. I'm not going to say why, but it was very good. This date goes down in my agenda as a memorable occasion. Sigh. ^_^

Dance Dance Dance

Plans are set, and we are going out dancing tonight with Kris, and possibly Tanya too. No one else was able to join us on short notice, though I sent out an email to Brandy to see if she might join us when she gets off work. It's Kris' 20th birthday on Sunday! She's so young.. I can barely remember 20, already. ^^;

Super Crystal!

Tuesday Ryan came out to pick me up after I was finished my Pysc quiz, and we headed out for EA goodies, then to the U-House to drop off stuff with Peter and kidnap Kris. After successfully nabbing Kris we all headed for a food-court lunch, then off to Food for Thought to introduce Ryan to the beauty that is our metaphysical store. While there, Ryan and I both picked up pieces of Kyanite, a wonderful cure-all type crystal*. I also picked up a beautiful rose quartz pendant with chakra-cleansing crystals on it! After that we got more food and headed back to my place to watch Sailormoon.

*Kyanite is a stone of channeling, altered states, vivid dreams, dream recall, and visualizations. It gives protection during these states. It brings loyalty, honesty and tranquility, and diminishes anger and confusion. Kyanite does not retain negative energy and never needs energetic cleansing. It does align and balance all chakras, often very suddenly. Kyanite can remove energy blockages. Blue kyanite is associated with the throat chakra and is a boost to meditation. Black kyanite is also a boost to meditation, and is associated with the root chakra. Black kyanite is also very protective and deflects negativity.

As per the decree

I had been informed that I was to update this more, and thus it came to be updated now. ^_~

Actually, I keep an offline diary and my intention is always to upload the shareable parts to this thing when I get home from work, but it never seems to happen. ^^; Thus, you'll find new entries scattered through old entries all the way back to the beginning of May. Enjoy!

Wow.. I actually have an audience on my blog (as verified by the Reader's Challenge, thanks for your answers!! :D )... I guess I'd best be careful what I divulge on here, hum?? *grin*

*sneaks back to work*

(yay, I'm now an "Administrative Assistant"! woot!)

Alien attack??

I'm not very good at updating this daily. I just get so busy now! Another week has gone by, and I spent another wonderful weekend (Tue/Wed) with my new friends. I'm sad this week because Justin is moving out of town, which will make it slightly more difficult to get together with him, and Nikki is going to Alberta for the summer. I'm not as close to any of the others except Ryan & Kris, so it seems like our weekly romps may get a bit quieter. But maybe not.

Either way, I am finding myself bonding very well with Ryan. There's just something about him.. we have so much in common and have such a great time talking (and playing).

We slept over at Justin's again this Tuesday, and again didn't sleep until around 5:30. The next day we went to lunch together at Cheers, which was really good. Then we went to Future Shop to browse, before heading to Mission to visit with Justin & Nikki.

In Mission we ended up going outside late at night to play around. Justin & Ryan showed off their moves with katanas and staffs, and they both looked so good!

Last night I had a series of interesting dreams. The one I remembered was quite weird, while being slightly interesting at the same time – because of the sensations and emotions involved. My memory begins at a point when myself and a bunch of people were heading somewhere – to go out dancing I think.  I have vague memories of stuff beforehand – something about a death in my family (which wasn't my rl family). Eventually I was named heir to a small fortune, some kind of hotel/apartment chain. Either way, I remember having money and promising my friends (which were Justin, Nikki, Kris, and Ryan) that they could live with me, since they were all looking for a place to stay. We'd take over the penthouse suite, which had plenty of rooms for everyone.

All that was really beside the point, though. The part that I really remember is when we were headed out to wherever we were going. I had my tablet on and it was scanning the area as we traveled. I don't know why, but it had a special “alien detection” software running, which included a flashing light on the body of the tablet. As we neared a field the flashing light turned steady, and a pop-up appeared, saying there were aliens nearby. As we passed the field, the intensity of the meter jumped.

Apparently we lived in an age where malevolent aliens were a real threat, thus why I had that program. We diverted our destination due to the alien threat, and tried to come up with a plan about what we should do. There are gaps in my memory. The next part I remember was a scene where we were being “attacked”. We were passing around some kind of device or creature, I don't know which, that would drain our energy if we held it too long. We tried to get rid of it as fast as possible, but all of us were slightly drained due to touching it.

Next part I remember, we were definitely under attack. The creatures were small, blob-like things that were round, but flat, a bit like dough that is slightly flattened, but still round. If one of these blobs were to attach to you, they could seep into your skin and take over your body. This was happening to many of those around us, and we were in danger.

We knew clearly that we were probably all going to die. Next thing I remember is being attacked, and taken over by one of those blobs. It was a leader, a queen or something, and it took me over very quickly. I felt my energy drain away and my consciousness slip in and out, but somehow I was able to keep some degree of myself intact. I could see my friends, horrified and scared, avoiding me and trying to get away from the other blobs. I knew that, having been taken over, my appearance had changed slightly and my eyes were a strange white-glow now.

Somehow I realized that if I could take back control, even with the alien inhabiting me, I could perhaps use it to my advantage and destroy the invaders. But to do that, I needed allies who were also taken over. At this point I was watching helplessly through the alien's eyes as my friends scattered and tried to avoid being taken over. Gathering up all the strength I could, I took control back briefly and grabbed Ryan's arm. In a weak, forced, distant voice I managed to whisper to him that I was still there, and that we could break free. I couldn't say anything else before the alien took control back. Ryan had heard me (and knew it was me), but I didn't know if he'd understood what I meant. Last thing I remember is the alien that inhabited me holding Ryan as another alien took him over, and me hoping that we could work together to free everyone else.
